Naomi Osaka Pulls Out Of Pan Pacific Open

Japanese tennis fans were disappointed on Thursday

when Naomi Osaka withdrew ahead of her 2nd-round match against Brazilian tennis player Beatriz Haddad Maia due to Stomach pain.

"I am really sorry that I am not able to compete today," Osaka said in a statement. 

"It's an honor to be able to play at the Toray Pan Pacific Open in front of the amazing fans here in Japan. I will see you next year."

It is the latest setback for Naomi Osaka, who was miss the 2022 Wimbledon due to an Achilles injury,

and retired from her 1st-round match in National Bank Open with a back problem in the lead-up to the US Open tournament. 

The 4-time major winner had won the Pan Pacific Open when it was last organized in 2019 in Osaka, Japan.
